The Symbolic Nature of the Ceremony: Things to Consider

Renewal or Parting

A ceremony such as a renewal handfasting or handparting can be shaped to meet the needs of your life as it is—either as a symbolic ritual that honors the emotional and spiritual truth of a transition both can be symbolic.

Part of my role is to help you discern which form aligns with your intentions. Through conversation, reflection, and gentle guidance, we explore what you’re marking, what you’re releasing, and what you’re stepping toward, so the ceremony you choose reflects both your inner truth and the practical realities of your life.

Vow Renewal

A vow renewal ceremony is a meaningful event where couples reaffirm their love and commitment to each other, often celebrating significant milestones in their relationship. It provides an opportunity to reflect on the journey they've shared and express their continued devotion in front of family and friends.

This ceremony can be as intimate or grand as the couple desires, making it a personal and memorable occasion. Whether it includes traditional elements or unique touches, a vow renewal celebrates the enduring bond between partners.

Handparting

A handparting occurs when both individuals mutually recognize that the vows they once shared no longer serves their personal growth or needs.

With understanding and respect, they choose to part ways, allowing each person to move forward independently as they pursue their own paths.

This is a symbolic act that might take place after a legal divorce, or when the couple have lived together as partners following a non legally binding handfasting.
